Professional Development Meeting
“What a Midwestern PR girl learned running a business in Asia”
Presented by Webster University Associate Professor Kit Jenkins
A year ago, Webster University Associate Professor Kit Jenkins returned from a 3 ½-year assignment as Director of Webster University Thailand, an extended site of the St. Louis-based university. As director, Kit held responsibility for academics, campus operations, institutional marketing and recruitment, and governmental relations for the Asian campus. Previous to this assignment, Kit headed the public relations program at Webster’s School of Communications for 13 years.
Join IABC/St. Louis as Kit shares tips from the top about what she learned from working in what could be considered a CEO role in Asia. Her takeaways span communications (including the tsunami crisis), leadership, working and living in a different culture and more.
About Kit Jenkins
Today Kit is a fulltime faculty member for Webster’s School of Communications, emphasizing international perspectives in the curriculum. She also teaches in the online communications program. Before academia, Kit spent four years as creative supervisor for Maritz Performance Improvement Co. and seven years as AT&T’s regional internal communications manager. She also worked as a radio producer and DJ. Before Thailand, she was president and founder of the Watertower & Park Preservation Society.
